Fall 2021: UArizona Inventor of the Year

On September 28, 2021, the UA annual I-Squared (Invention to Impact) Expo & Awards Event hosted by Tech Launch Arizona honored top inventors and enterpreneurs dedicated to commercializing University of Arizona inventions. The UA 2021 Inventor of the Year Award honored Dr. Sadhana Ravishankar for her development of natural antimicrobial products and the launch of PhytoCentric Solutions LLC,  in order to develop the inventions from her laboratory into the market space. This award honors Dr. Ravishankar for her deep commitment to UA technology commercialization. Her patents include eco-friendly inventions made 100% from plants such as a natural produce wash for vegetables and fruits, a natural surface sanitizer/disinfectant, a natural hand sanitizer and a natural product to prevent and control biofilms.

Spring 2020: Outstanding Senior Award

Vimarys Oliveras Miranda

Vimarys MirandaCongratulations to Vimarys Oliveras Miranda, who received the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences (CALS) Spring 2020 Outstanding Senior Award! Students are selected, one per major, and honored for their extraordinary accomplishments. Vimarys, who goes by Vee, is the Outstanding Senior in Veterinary Science. Vee was born in Ciales, Puerto Rico and as a military child, she has lived in many states including N. Dakota, Georgia, Texas, Nevada, and lastly, Arizona. We are so pleased to have Vee with us here at the UA. Not only is she critical in supporting the research in our lab, she brings us much joy! She is very passionate about science and learning. In addition to her own CONSERVE internship and independent study projects on food safety and microbiology, Vee helps us out with many outreach activities including demonstrations for students of all ages engaged in STEM education.
